Sales Associate
Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store and Donation Center in Richfield
June 20th 2019 until August 21st 2020
I worked as a Sales Associate in the Arc’s Value Village thrift store. I mostly worked as a cashier, but I also maintained an orderly sales floor, put goods where they belong, and helped customers and volunteers find what they are looking for. In addition, I occasionally got assigned to put price tags on goods, sort through new donations, or assist in carrying donations from the donors’ cars to where they are sorted. The atmosphere was a relaxed and friendly one, but I did occasionally have to deal with less-than-helpful customers.

Donation Attendant, Floor Attendant, Cashier
Salvation Army Family Store and Donation Center in Bloomington
Summer of 2018
I worked at the Salvation Army second hand store. I was originally hired to work in the back, sorting donations, guiding donors through the process, and making out receipts.
I was moved to the floor and the cash register as there were already enough people working in donations, and there weren’t enough people working in the front. I sorted the clothes and hard goods, packed purchases, made change, and guided customers. While the other employees were kind and helpful, I did have to deal with rude and angry customers.

Actor, Author, Director
Penumbra Summer Institute
Summers of  2013, 2014, and 2015
Working with a group, led by a professional actor and social activist, I wrote, acted and directed plays highlighting social justice issues, and advocating social reform.
I worked within a highly diverse group, sometimes leading, sometimes collaborating, sometimes taking direction. I was required to practice careful listening, group consultation, constructive suggestion, and effective communication skills.
We worked hard on a group creative project, completing a clean, presentable script, and finished production.
Within this diverse group I learned to speak up for issues important to me.
I worked 9 hour days, 5 days a week, never missed a day, and arrived on time, ready to work.

Activist, Intern, Speaker, Volunteer
Proof Alliance
For years, I have worked for Proof Alliance to help make the world a better place for my friends and family. I have spoken on Capitol Hill to the public, from a script I wrote myself. I have spoken to state senators, in person and over the phone. I have volunteered at information fairs where I spoke to the public and presented them with materials from the Proof Alliance website.
I worked a three week Proof Alliance internship in which I did data entry, and helped prepare for and clean up after events. I always arrived on time ready to work.
